The 1.7 million-square-foot Mission Critical hospital, which is officially called the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System Veterans Medical Center, is designed to accommodate the estimated 70,000 veterans in the region. It is Veteran/ patience centric since color-blindness affects veterans in high numbers, the color palette uses tones and colors more recognizable to the vision-impaired veterans. The green areas grounds where designed using serpentine walls as opposed to corner walls, this landscaping strategy was used to eliminate hard blind-spots which had in mind the therapeutic goal to place at ease the users of these spaces, by gradually discovering what lays ahead, as opposed to uncertainties that hard building corners could generate.
